Principal components of the EEACS curriculum derive from an integrated Kindergarten-to-12th-grade (“K–12”) system so that teaching and learning move steadily from early elementary toward college and career readiness. The curriculum is fully aligned with the Pennsylvania Core State Standards and Pennsylvania’s Standard Aligned System (SAS). Performance based assessments and activities are used that provide many opportunities for students to show their understanding of the content as well as their ability to apply and transfer the new learning. The School has partnered with McGraw-Hill to design a comprehensive curriculum that is aligned to the PA CCSS.
The School’s special education program is designed to allow eligible and/or exceptional students the opportunity to reach their potential and maximize their learning. Specially designed instruction may be provided in a regular classroom setting and/or within a resource room pullout setting depending on the student’s individual needs. The ultimate goal for students with special needs is to ensure full access to the general education curriculum and programming.
An additional standards dimension involves preparation of students for success in the global workplace. The school has developed a unique business education program around the Pennsylvania Business, Computer, and Information Technology Standards. These standards describe what students should know and be able to do in the field of business education at all grade levels.
