Dear High School Parent/Guardian,
This letter is to inform you that students who were enrolled in Algebra 1 or ELA 10 during the 2020-2021 school year will have a second opportunity to reach proficiency, a composite score of 1500, on the respective Keystone exam. All students in the state of Pennsylvania are required to take these end of course Keystone exams for Algebra 1, ELA and Biology. Keystone testing is one component of the Pennsylvania state graduation requirements for students in the class of 2023 and beyond. Keystone Exams are end of course statewide assessments that Pennsylvania uses to comply with accountability requirements in the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
The dates for the Keystone exams will be Monday, December 6 and Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Students will begin testing promptly at 8:30, so it is very important for your student to be on time to school on these dates. With longer class periods this year, students will be taking the exam during their first period class on Monday and Tuesday. Students will not need to worry about missed assignments, accommodations will be made.
If your student is absent on either or both of these days, they will have the opportunity to take the Keystone exam again in May.
Attached is the Code of Conduct for Test Takers, please review this information with your student prior to the test day. Students MUST bring their fully charged school issued computer along with the charger on the day of testing. They will be taking the Keystone test online this year.
